Today, I am officially announcing my candidacy for Mayor of
New York City!
I am running for Mayor because I want to keep fighting for the
vision - for the hope - that my great-grandfather saw when he first
immigrated to New York City. I am running because politics-as-usual
and candidates-as-usual can never live up to the promise of our
citizens. I am running because we must never be content to rest on
what we have already achieved. We can do better.
Our team includes political strategist Joe Trippi, who ran Howard
Dean’s campaign for President, Kenneth A. Gross, Mayor Bloomberg's
campaign finance lawyer, and Richard Strauss, a communications expert
from the Clinton White House.
But more importantly, it includes thousands of grassroots
supporters and friends like you. You will power this campaign.
Together, we will win this independent campaign. We'll
bring jobs and investment to New York City and a world-class education
to our schools. We'll move power from City Hall, and return it to our
communities. We'll innovate and do better for our city.
